We brew several coffees daily so you have a choice of a medium roast, a bolder cup, decaf, or a flavor or two. Our coffee bean selection changes from time to time, based on the availability—usually seasonal—of certain beans or our discovery of yet another great coffee! Most of our origins and blends are organic, fair trade coffees. If you are looking for a particular blend or roast, let us know and we’ll be glad to see if we can get it for you.

Organic and Fair Trade

USDA Organic information
Organic food is produced by farmers who emphasize use of renewable resources and conservation of soil and water to enhance environmental quality for future generations. Organic food is produced without using most conventional pesticides or synthetic fertilizers. Before a product can be labeled "organic," a USDA-approved certifier inspects the farm where the food is grown to make sure the farmer is following all the rules necessary to meet USDA organic standards. Companies that handle or process organic food must be certified, too. (USDA Organic information)

Fair Trade information
Designed to help small-scale farmers in developing countries earn more money for their products, Fair Trade has rapidly evolved into a global consumer-based movement. Members of Fair Trade Certified cooperatives are eligible to receive a guaranteed minimum price. Fair Trade helps farming families across Latin America, Africa and Asia to improve the quality of life in their communities. (Fair Trade information)

Brewing Coffee

What’s the perfect brew? Light, medium, dark, darkest roasts? What’s best for you? Much of the technique of brewing your perfect cup of coffee depends on you, but some of the basics are the same, no matter what your preferences.

First, start with fresh cold water and fresh-roasted, quality whole beans (Don't grind until you’re ready to brew!). The brewing temperature of the water should be about 195 degrees Fahrenheit. Start your coffee measurement at 7 grams (1 tbsp) of ground coffee for every 120ml (4 ounces) of water. Only brew what you can drink in 20 minutes or so. Don't reheat coffee.

Have you tried making coffee with a French press—a method that produces a rich brew, just a few cups at a time? For an excellent “how to” guide for brewing coffee by this method, check out The CoffeeGeek online.
